Home renovation in Toronto and the GTA

Considered residential renovations led by one team that listens, plans the details and keeps every specialist aligned.

Renovation goes wrong in the coordination more often than in the craft. Trades arriving in the wrong order, decisions left until the week they are needed, and scopes vague enough to argue about later are what turn a straightforward project into a long one.

Mera runs residential renovations across Toronto and the GTA with one accountable point of contact from the first walkthrough to handover — kitchens, bathrooms, basements and whole-home work, with the sequence planned before anyone starts.

Kitchens

Kitchen work touches plumbing, electrical, ventilation, cabinetry, stone and tile, and each depends on the one before it. Cabinetry is measured against the room as built rather than as drawn, which matters in older Toronto houses where walls are rarely straight or plumb.

Bathrooms

Bathrooms are small rooms with the highest concentration of things that must be right the first time. Waterproofing behind tile, fall to the drain, and blocking behind walls for fixtures are decided before the finishes are chosen, because they cannot be corrected afterwards without taking the room apart.

Basements

Basement work starts with moisture and headroom, not layout. Understanding where water comes in and what the ceiling height allows determines what the space can realistically become, and that conversation is worth having before any drawings.

Whole-home and multi-room work

Larger projects are sequenced so that work does not have to be undone — services before surfaces, dust-generating work before finishes, and decisions scheduled far enough ahead of the trades that need them.

Common questions

It depends on scope and on permits where they are required. What we can commit to is a realistic sequence set out before work starts, and telling you promptly when something changes, rather than a confident number at the beginning that quietly slips.

Structural changes, many basement conversions and work that alters plumbing or electrical layouts generally do. Cosmetic work usually does not. We will tell you what your specific project needs and will not proceed with work that ought to be permitted as though it should not be.

Often yes, depending on scope and which rooms are affected. Kitchens and sole bathrooms are the hardest. We plan dust protection and access around how you actually use the house.
